Hannah Lang is driven from her family ranch by Packer, the man who married and murdered her sister. In the hills are a few Apaches, including, most notably, the Apache Kid, who has a $15,000 bounty on his head. Hannah runs to the Apaches looking for help, but she is not willing to pay the Apache Kid's price, which will enable him to make a new life for himself.
Through a long winter they are hunted by Packer, as well as by old scouts and Indian fighters who relish the thought of killing an Indian or two.
This is a haunting tale of love and hate, of ways that cannot be reconciled, and of survival against long odds.
